19th - 2oth July Haselrigs cannon crew were invited to participate in the prestigeous annual English Heritage living history event at Kelmarsh Hall. Reenactment groups from all over put on a host of displays, battles and cameos for thousands of visitors.
Haselrigs cannon was just one of two invited to the reenactment of The battle of Marsdon Moor. A brilliant weekend was spent in the Northamptonshire countryside in the grounds of this impressive manor. The highlight of the weekend was the dogfighting 109 and spitfire next to where we were camping
The last 2 events were strangely non-historical gatherings . We had one of our company had a stag weekend in Plymouth, and it was no coincidence that the said groom to be's friends were all SK members from this and other regiments. They gathered in Cornwall and had a two day run with boat trips, b-b-ques and the obligatory pub crawl around Plymouth.
In beautiful weather we camped in seige lines just outside the city. It was a fantastic social weekend.
It is rumoured that the girls has a nice time in London that same weekend, but no details have been forthcoming as yet
A good number of us also had a day at TWICKENHAM. Many of the members being Northampton Saints fans!
We took a coach down to the stadium to watch a thrilling game which happily finished with the right result. The singing on the coach on the way back was distinctly below par, with most of us being fast asleep before we had reached the motorway!
Saturday 5th June saw the Regiment gathering to celebrate the marriage of Ste and Lynette, both long standing members. We gathered together at Weedon in Northamptonshire, some coming from long distances. Dress code was ' as you like it' . The weather was kind to us, and the ceremony went off flawlessly. The happy couple are now residing in Mexico, but they are being recalled to attend the Kelmarsh muster next weekend. The highlight of the day was the best mans speech, and the military style operation to trash their bridal suite.
